Police chase hits speeds of 100 mph

Just before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning what we believe was an attempted traffic stop in Federal Way turned into a high speed chase on I-5.

The chase began on surface streets but the driver entered northbound I-5 near 320th street and led police for six miles on a chase that reached 100 mph.

The driver exited I-5 and headed west on 216th St. before finally coming to a stop near 24th Ave. in Des Moines.

When our crew caught up with the vehicle they noticed that all four tires were blown out as if spike strips had been used. We are working to confirm that with Federal Way police as well as the arrest of the driver.
