Passengers rescreened after security breach at Sea-Tac airport

SEATTLE — Flights were put on hold Tuesday evening when a man went through an exit line and entered a sterile area of Sea-Tac Airport, officials with the Transportation Security Administration said.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m.

TSA officials and the Port of Seattle Police Department immediately began a search for the individual and found him. He was taken into custody and later released.

According to TSA officials, normal security checkpoint operations resumed around 9:20 p.m.

Areas of the airport terminal were evacuated and passengers were required to be rescreened.

The incident is still under investigation.
