Fire rips through Mount Vernon home

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A fire ripped through the garage of a Mount Vernon home Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The fire happened at the corner of West Meadow Boulevard and Hoag Street.

Fire officials said the home was where the fire started was a total loss. Two surrounding homes caught on fire but were saved.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

A man and a few dogs were rescued from one of the homes.

Officials are investigating.
