A man was arrested early Thursday after a stabbing that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened shortly after midnight in the 1400 block of Third Avenue, near Union Street.

When officers arrived, “they found the man lying on the sidewalk,” Detective Mark Jamieson said in a statement. “A citizen was providing first aid to the victim. The man had a deep cut on his neck, and the wound was bleeding profusely. Witnesses pointed out a possible suspect across the street.”

The victim is expected to survive, and the suspect is scheduled to be in court for a Friday afternoon bail hearing.

The victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, and police followed the victim’s blood trail to the suspect’s apartment.
