TACOMA, Wash. — A 19-year-old man was shot early Sunday morning by intruders breaking into his home, said Mark Fulghum of the Tacoma Police Department.

Police said a 911 call was received at 4:24 a.m. and officers responded to a home located in the 1000 block of Trafton Street.

According to police, two or three masked intruders, at least one with a gun, were dressed in black, and police said the intruders broke into the home by kicking in the door.

Relatives said seven people were inside of the home during the time of the incident, and said there was a previous incident at the home.

The victim’s uncle told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that his nephew was shot outside of the home and the man’s father chased the intruders with a baseball bat.

According to Fulghum, there was no indication of drug or gang involvement with the shooting.

Relatives told KIRO 7 the victim is currently doing OK.

Tacoma police are continuing to investigate the incident.
