Shirtless, bloody man shot in face runs into street, screaming

SEATTLE — Police were called to Pioneer Square after a shirtless, bloodied man who had been shot in the face ran down the street screaming for help and trying to get into passing cars.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday, multiple calls were placed to 911 reporting gunshots heard in the area of Third Avenue South and South Washington Street.

Men sleeping in the Union Gospel Mission said they were just waking up when they heard several shots outside their back door.

"He was not able to provide them with any information or any detail --  what had happened, why it happened or provide us with a suspect description," said Seattle police spokeswoman Renee Witt.

Police said though Duckworth was alert and conscious, he wasn't much help to police trying to figure out who shot him.
