SEATTLE — As the teardown of the Alaskan Way Viaduct nears its final stages, a new street closure begins Wednesday morning, potentially leading to more congestion.

Beginning Wednesday, a section of S. Jackson Street east of Alaskan Way will close for at least a few weeks. Drivers will experience some relief as closures at S. King Street and Yesler Way are reopening.

WSDOT is hoping to be finished along the waterfront by the end of summer.

Ferry riders can still access Colman Dock through the S. Jackson Street entrance by entering off Alaskan Way. Uniformed police officers will aid in directing traffic.
