Shelton sets Guinness World Record for most lighted Christmas trees

SHELTON, Wash. — Shelton was teeming with Christmas spirit this weekend when the town lit over 750 Christmas trees, breaking a 2015 Guinness World Record.

The Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce said that 797 trees were lit during the record-breaking attempt on Dec. 7. The previous record was set in 2015 with a Hallmark Channel event that had 559 trees lit.

The trees were part of the Christmastown, USA festival which pays homage to the town's rich timber heritage.

The trees will either be replanted, donated to families in need or are available for purchase with a $10 minimum donation to Toys for Tots, Seattle Children’s Hospital or a local food bank, according to the Chamber of Commerce.

Shelton arranged its trees in a lighted maze where people could go visit Santa, hear live music and enjoy seasonal snacks.
