Police: Man arrested after robbery, stabbing in Beacon Hill

SEATTLE — Seattle police arrested a man Wednesday after a stabbing during a robbery in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.

At about 12:30 p.m., a man was trying to shoplift items from a store in the 2300 block of Rainier Avenue South, investigators said.

According to police, store employees confronted the man.

The 40-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During a fight, the man stabbed an employee in the leg and ran away from the scene.

Officers searched the area for the man and an officer spotted him near Jose Rizal Park.

Investigators said the man ran onto I-5, got off and was taken into custody under I-5 at Dearborn.

The 31-year-old man was booked into the King County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
