Police: Man with outstanding warrants arrested after high-speed chase in stolen car

ENUMCLAW, Wash. — A man with outstanding warrants was arrested after a high-speed chase in a stolen car Saturday morning, Enumclaw police said.

Police said that around 7 a.m., a high-speed pursuit started with a man in a stolen car. There was also a woman in the passenger seat.

It initially began when the suspect drove 70 mph in a 40 mph zone past officers responding to a separate incident, officials said. Police caught up with him after seeing him in a McDonald’s drive-thru.

Officials said that at one point, the suspect drove off the road into bushes and then intentionally rammed an Enumclaw police car while trying to escape.

The suspect then drove back and forth through Enumclaw and Buckley, evading police.

A second police car was also damaged when an officer reportedly hit the suspect’s car with his pushbars to stop the car from hitting a bystander, officials said.

The pursuit was called off and resumed several times, police said. It was eventually picked up by Washington State Patrol and park rangers.

The suspect eventually lost control of the car and crashed into an embankment at Highway 410 and 241st Avenue SW. He was then taken into custody.

Police discovered that the suspect had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants, according to a release. They also found that the vehicle was stolen out of Tacoma and switched license plates out of Enumclaw.

No one was injured in the chase, and the female passenger is being questioned.
