Over 50 Bigg's orcas, including several calves under the age of 2, were spotted in the Salish Sea on Friday.
The Bigg's orcas, which are mammal-eating, were spotted "thriving" in the same waters as the salmon-eating southern resident orcas, according to the Fearey Group, a public relations firm in Seattle.
The orcas were spotted by members of the Pacific Whale Watch Association, which consists of 32 whale watch operators in Washington and British Columbia.
