Austin Kelley, assistant soccer coach of the boys’ team at Olympia High School, is missing on the Salmon River in Idaho.
His mother, Cortney Kelley, told KIRO 7 that searchers have spent much of Wednesday combing the remote area near Riggins, about 150 miles north of Boise.
Cortney Kelley said there will be a “Bring Austin Home” vigil Wednesday night at Ingersoll Stadium on the Olympia High School campus.
The 26-year-old Kelley was fishing with friends on Sunday when the group crossed the river to visit hot springs. According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, Kelley was not wearing a life jacket when he was swept down the river. His friends’ attempts to locate him were not successful.
Idaho County Search & Rescue, family and friends have continued in their efforts to find Kelley, who is married and has a newborn baby. Idaho County dispatch supervisor Trudy Slagle told KIRO 7 that searchers are “still driving the road along the river looking for him, but at this point, it is up to Mother Nature.”
