Man injured in SeaTac shooting that led to standoff

SEATAC, Wash. — Deputies are investigating after a man was injured in a shooting in SeaTac Tuesday afternoon that turned into a standoff.

Before 1:30 p.m., deputies received a call about a disturbance at an apartment complex in the 14700 block of 25th Court South, but police said it turned out to be a shooting.

The situation quickly turned into a standoff.

The SWAT team, deputies and crisis negotiators surrounded the building for hours on Tuesday.

“This is a unique situation. We want to be thorough and deliberate,” said King County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Tim Meyer.

A search warrant was served and a 28-year-old man was arrested. He was booked into the King County Jail late Tuesday evening on suspicion of first-degree felony assault and violation of the uniform firearms act.

Deputies ruled the scene secured at 7 p.m.

Police said the standoff “ended peacefully,” but didn’t give further details.

Deputies said the man who was shot and taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are still determining the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

“We let time do its job and that paid off tonight. It allowed us to bring a good resolution,” said Meyer.

The investigation remains ongoing.
