A look at the soggy weekend ahead

The rain will be widespread and potentially heavy Saturday night into Sunday morning. — Thunderstorms in spots earlier Friday and this afternoon have stabilized the atmosphere somewhat, and through the rest of the evening, I expect just some showers around.

Sure, there’s the chance of an isolated thunderstorm nearer the mountains, but otherwise, just expect a few areas of rain and some drier times.

The weekend will be soggy at times, though early Saturday might not be too bad.

By Sunday afternoon, we’ll see some breaking up of the areas of rain, but a few thunderstorms will once again be possible with lightning and small hail.

By late in the day, expect more rain to move in. The rain will be widespread and potentially heavy Saturday night into Sunday morning.

This threat will be greatest in and near mountains.

Highs this weekend will be in the 60s for most in the lowlands, though some upper 50s coast and north.

Rain chances continue into Monday, but some warmer and drier days can be expected Tuesday and Wednesday, with one or both days possibly reaching 70 degrees once again.

We’d like to hang onto the drier weather for a while, but it looks like we’ll get rain returning later next week.
