Gov. Inslee releases Phase 2 guidance for real estate, gyms

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Gov. Jay Inslee released new Phase 2 safety guidance Tuesday for real estate and gyms as part of the state’s Safe Start plan.

Effective Tuesday, counties granted variance to move to Phase 2 can resume real estate and gym operations.

  • In-person meetings with customers are prohibited except when necessary for a customer or broker to view a property or sign necessary documents.
  • No real estate open houses are permitted.
  • In-person activities including property viewings, inspections, appraisals, and final walk-throughs shall be arranged by appointment and are limited to three people on site.
  • Minimize interactions during activities; ensure a minimum of 6-foot separation by physical barriers, and/or marking floors with tape. Limit the number of participants based on facility size and activities to allow for a 6-foot separation.

  • Fitness activities must be limited to groups of five trainees or less plus a single instructor.
  • Social distancing guidelines of at least six feet of separation must be maintained by every person in the facility at all times.
  • Total number of people in the facility, to include staff, trainers, and clients, will be limited to 30% of the facility’s building occupancy.
  • Equipment will be sanitized immediately after each use. Sanitation spray or wipes will be dispersed throughout the training floor.

Washington is currently in Phase 1 of the Safe Start plan but there are ten counties that have already moved to Phase 2.

Inslee’s office said counties with less than 10 new cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents over a 14-day span can apply for a variance to move to Phase 2.
