The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office says two people are now safe after their canoe flipped Monday afternoon on the Skykomish River.

A witness called 911 after seeing the canoe overturn with two men inside. The caller said they were not wearing life jackets.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's helicopter, SnoHawk1, searched from the air and divers were in the river. The canoe was recovered.

The men walked to a nearby residence and they were not injured.

Officials said the men were located and self-rescued down stream.

This is the second water rescue in Snohomish County in 24 hours. The sheriff's office is urging everyone to wear life jackets.
