King County Council to vote on proposed SoDo arena Monday afternoon

SEATTLE — People concerned about the proposed SoDo sports arena have one more chance Monday to make their voices heard.

The King County Council is expected to vote on the measure Monday afternoon. Anyone who wants the Council to hear their opinion should go to the county courthouse for a public hearing at 1:30 p.m.

If the county approves the arena plan, which it’s expected to, the measure will then go to the Seattle City Council, which will vote on the matter in August.

KIRO 7 reported last week about a Chicago investor who’s trying to reawaken a plan to put an NBA/NHL arena in Bellevue. It’s unclear if that will affect Monday’s vote.

Monday’s vote will put to bed months of public back-and-forth and council meetings on the plan. The county said it wants to move on to other business.
