More than 450 acres of grass burning near Lake Chelan

CHELAN, Wash. — More than 450 acres of mostly grassland was burning on Lake Chelan's north shore Friday.

The fire, which started shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, was near Twenty-Five Mile State Park.

A viewer told KIRO 7 shortly before 9 p.m. that two helicopters with water buckets were fighting the fire.

The cause was being investigated.

The Central Washington Interagency Communications Center said fire crews from the Forest Service and state Department of Natural Resources were fighting the fire.
