Dog missing after Edmonds house fire

EDMONDS, Wash. — Four people got out safely after a fire broke out at a home in Edmonds early Wednesday, but one of the family’s dogs has not been found.

A married couple, their adult son and a house guest were asleep when a smoke alarm alerted them to the fire at the home in the 2000 block of 81st Avenue West just before 3 a.m.

The home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, according to Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

Firefighters from Fire District 1 and Lynnwood responded and had the fire under control within 25 minutes. No one was injured.

The family escaped with a dog and a cat, but another dog is missing.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Damages are estimated to be at $250,000.
