Crane fire spreads to fence in West Seattle

SEATTLE — Firefighters battled a crane fire that spread to a fence in West Seattle Thursday morning.

Crews evacuated nearby buildings in the 4000 block of Southwest Andover Street.

A woman who works in the Columbia Tower said she could see black smoke from her office on the 36th floor.

The fire was reported at about 8:20 a.m.   Seattle fire said it was under control at about 8:40 a.m.

Black smoke could also be seen from KIRO 7's tower cam.
