Car hits pole, sparks brush fire in Federal Way

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a pole, causing a nearby brush fire overnight in Federal Way, remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to Federal Way Police, the accident happened around 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Southwest Dash Point Road.

For unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole. The vehicle caught fire and that fire quickly spread to some nearby brush.

The condition of the driver was not available, but police said the injuries are life-threatening.

The driver was trapped in his burning car until rescue crews were able to free him.

The road was closed to traffic for several hours Thursday morning as a major accident investigation team remained at the crash site.
