BREMERTON, Wash. — A suspicious package was found Wednesday morning at Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton, said an official at the base.
The package was discovered around 8:45 a.m.
Emergency crews responded to the location and secured the area.
The object was removed for further examination.
An Explosive Ordinance Disposal specialist and crew members inspected the parcel and found it to be a canister used for fire suppression in a ship galleys.
Vehicle traffic to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility was diverted to the Bremerton Gate and resumed shortly after 1 p.m.
