AUBURN, Wash. — A woman who is the suspect in an Amber Alert has been taken into custody on Stevens Pass and the 6-year-old boy who was missing has been found safe.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said a deputy was following the 2009 gray Acura RDX driven by the mother of the autistic boy who had been abducted at knifepoint, but had to back off because of high speeds.

Mason Joseph Bennatts-Miller was taken from his grandmother's house in Auburn Sunday night.

Sandra Bennatts' mother was able to free herself in the morning and go to a neighbor's house to call 911.  She is recovering in the hospital.

Police said Sandra Bennatts later stopped the vehicle in the middle of the highway and was taken into custody by Chelan County deputies at the summit.
