ARLINGTON, Wash. — The couple missing for weeks from their home in the Arlington-Oso area were identified as the bodies found in a remote location.
According to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner on Thursday, the cause of death for Monique M. Patenaude, 46, and Patrick M. Shunn, 45, is multiple gunshot wounds

The bodies were found in a remote area a few miles north of Shunn and Patenaude's home, close to where their vehicles were earlier recovered. Detectives say suspect Tony Reed helped point police to the exact location.
Tony Reed, one of two suspects in an Arlington couple's disappearance and presumed murder, was recently located and taken into custody.

Police said Tuesday that he provided them with a possible gravesite location. He was not taken to the site.
Tony Reed's trial date has been set for July 15. He has pleaded not guilty.
Officials continue searching for a second suspect, Tony Reed’s brother, John Blaine Reed.

Tony Reed was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and booked into the San Diego County Jail. He arranged with officials to turn himself in.
The brothers are accused of killing Shunn and Patenaude.
Investigators hiked up to where the missing couple’s Land Rover and Jeep were found in a wooded area near Oso.
After looking through their abandoned cars, Snohomish County sheriff's officials said they found evidence of murder and incriminating evidence in a home where John Reed once lived. Detectives said they were also able to obtain video surveillance footage tying the Reed brothers to the disposal of the vehicles.
"John Reed's former house was very close to where Patrick and Monique lived," said Snohomish County Sheriff Ty Trenary.
Detectives have acknowledged that there were property disputes between the Reed brothers and the missing couple.
Shunn and Patenaude owned a large lot near the Stillaguamish River. They filed a lawsuit against the Reeds three years ago, claiming that the brothers drove their RVs onto their property and let their dogs harass their farm animals.
