Prolific purse prowler arrested in Kirkland

Kirkland police arrested a Renton woman on suspicion of prowling cars and stealing purses in parks throughout King County

Investigators say the 24-year-old would watch and wait for a woman to leave her purse in a car, then break into it and open the trunk.

Detectives said she would go to the self-check line at the closest QFC store's and buy thousands of dollars-worth of prepaid Visa gift cards.

She was arrested in March, was freed after posting bail and went right back to stealing, Kirkland police said.

Now she's been arrested for more than 17 car prowls.

Police say she targeted parks in Kirkland, Bellevue, Sammamish, Issaquah, Renton and Kent.

The woman was caught on May 3rd after an alert clerk at the QFC by Peter Kirk Park recognized the woman when she returned to the store to buy more gift cards, said police.

Investigators say the best way to secure your belongings is to keep them with you.
