Authorities were called to a Federal Way neighborhood Monday night after an explosive device was found.
The incident happened off of First Avenue South near Dash Point Road.
The relative of a homeowner in the area called authorities around 7:30 p.m. after the device was found in an item of furniture.
The furniture had been placed at the curb in hopes someone would take it. When no one did, it was brought back inside the home.

The device was inside the home for about a week before authorities were called.
Streets around the location were blocked while the bomb squad handled the scene.
A robot was brought in to move the device to a safe location so it could be detonated.
The detonation created a boom that was heard several blocks away. The homeowner says the force of the explosion broke one of her windows.
