Detectives investigating after a man is injured by gunfire in south Seattle

Detectives are investigating after a man was shot in the Brighton neighborhood Wednesday night.

Witnesses called 911 after they heard shots fired in the 4400 block of South Holly Street just before 10 p.m.

When police officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings in the street between South Holly Street and South Warsaw street along 44th Avenue South.

Witnesses told officers a white sedan was seen speeding out of the area after the gunshots were fired. Officers searched the area but did not locate any victims or suspects.

Employees at Harborview Medical Center reported an 18-year-old man had walked into the emergency room an hour later with a minor gunshot wound.

Officers spoke with the man who claimed he was sitting in a vehicle parked near the scene of the shooting when he heard shots fired. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center by friends.

Last month, officers responded to reports of shots in the same neighborhood and found a woman in her 20s with a gunshot wound to the head.
