Detectives investigate overnight shooting in South Seattle

SEATTLE — Seattle police detectives are investigating after a woman was shot in the head overnight in the Brighton neighborhood of South Seattle.

Officers responded to reports of shots being fired from a moving car in the 4500 block of South Willow Street just after 2 a.m. Saturday. Officers arrived and found a woman in her 20s with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head.

Seattle Fire Department medics transferred the woman to Harborview Medical Center.

Witnesses told police that two cars were driving through the area at a high rate of speed while the passengers were possibly firing shots at each other. Gang unit detectives are working with witnesses to develop a suspect description.
