Man injured in SODO crash involving Sounder train, car

A Sounder train and a car crashed in Seattle's SODO neighborhood Tuesday evening, Sound Transit said.

The train involved was moving again at about 5:15 p.m. The Seattle Police and Fire departments are investigating the cause of the crash.

The motorist has non-life-threatening injuries. The Seattle Fire Department said it conducted a "rapid extrication" and that the man was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be treated for leg injuries.

Southline train No. 1513 departed around 4:12 p.m. It was stopped just south of the King Street Station.

Sound Transit said it was expecting substantial delays due to the crash. It released the following information for riders:

Customers are welcome to wait to for the scene to clear or take normally schedule bus routes We will provide updates as they become available.

Southbound ST Express Route 577 will operated as Route 578, and Route 590 will operate as Route 594 in order to make additional stops for passenger choosing to ride the bus in lieu of the train.
