1 dead, 2 hurt in Lakewood van fire

LAKEWOOD, Wash. — One person is dead and two others are in the hospital after the van they were in caught fire in Lakewood Monday morning.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue crews arrived at the fire at 92nd and South Tacoma Way just after 4 a.m.

A bystander saw the fire, broke a window, and pulled two people out before it got too hot, according to fire officials.

The two survivors, a man and a woman, were taken to hospitals in serious condition. A third person, a man, died.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
