One dead after shooting outside Redmond apartment party

A man in his early 20s was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound outside of a party at an apartment complex in Redmond early Sunday morning.

Redmond police say the fire department was responding to an automatic fire alarm at 16800 NE
39th Court just before 2 a.m. and found a party with approximately 100 people inside of the recreation room.

While the firefighters were responding to the alarm, they heard a gunshot and requested both medical aid and police.

Responding officers found the man dead outside of the recreation room where the party was being held.

Police set up a perimeter, but were unable to locate a suspect.

A suspect description has not been released at this time, and police say there is no imminent threat to people in the area.

Police say the initial fire alarm may have been set off by people smoking inside the recreation room.

Redmond police are asking anyone with information about the incident, or anyone who attended the party, to call them at 425 556-2500.
