Gina Esposito joined WSOC-TV in May 2016. You’ll see her reporting, and filling in for Traffic Team 9 weekdays on Eyewitness News This Morning. She also anchors Eyewitness News Saturday and Sunday mornings. At WSOC-TV, Gina covers just about any story from affordable housing to food insecurity. She’s been the go-to reporter for any story impacting Mecklenburg EMS. In 2020, she received an EMMY for “Best Newscast” for her role in WSOC-TV’s coverage of the 2019 UNC Charlotte Tragedy. Before WSOC-TV, Gina worked as a reporter in Grand Junction, Pueblo and Colorado Springs, Colorado. She covered the Republican Presidential Debate, the Aurora Theater Shooter Trial, the Legalization of Recreational Marijuana and the Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage. Gina grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and earned a degree in Broadcast Journalist at San Jose State University. Gina was an anchor/reporter for SJSU’s Update News, served as VP for RTNDA, and interned at KTVU Channel 2 News in Oakland, California. Before getting into news, Gina worked as an Educational Leadership Consultant for Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity. She traveled to more than 15 states, visiting nearly 20 universities. In her spare time, Esposito enjoys gardening, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with her husband, Zach, their daughter, Sophia, and dog, Winston. Got a tip or a story idea?
