Rain, mountain snow increasing this weekend

Some showers are moving ashore at the coast now and will push into the Puget Sound region later tonight. The rain will be spotty and rather light for most of the time, but all locations will get some rain later this evening and tonight. A few isolated downpours are possible too.

Areas of rain will move through during Saturday with rain increasing Saturday evening into Sunday. It will be pretty soggy to end the weekend and to begin next week and breezy at times as well this weekend (gusts 25-30mph), but no damaging wind is expected. Snow levels will be around 2,500-3,500 feet for some decent snow in the Cascades through the period – six to 12 inches. Snoqualmie Pass, though could see rain at times at lower elevations, particularly Sunday. Still, pass travel will get a little difficult at the times of heavier snowfall, particularly Saturday night through Sunday.

We’ll have morning rain and mountain snow Monday then tapering off to a few showers later in the day.

We’re mainly dry from Tuesday through Wednesday, after which the forecast becomes a little more murky. It does look like we trend to somewhat cooler temperatures after mid-week. Whether there will be any moisture remains to be seen. The long range outlook beyond next week is for cooler and drier conditions in the Northwest but this is not an actual forecast which can be relied upon at this point – just a hint at the most probable overall weather pattern.
