WAZ516-517-190145- /O.CON.KSEW.CF.W.0001.000000T0000Z-180119T0600Z/ North Coast-Central Coast- 939 AM PST Thu Jan 18 2018 ...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PST THIS EVENING... * COASTAL FLOODING...Seas at the Cape Elizabeth buoy have been between 28 and 32 feet this morning with a dominant period of 15 to 19 seconds. The high surf in combination with a high tide that will be about one foot above the predicted value will result in saltwater flooding over low-lying portions of coastal communities. * SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...La Push, Westport, Ocean Shores, Taholah. Ocean Shores and Westport are especially vulnerable. * TIMING...Seas and flooding will peak around the high tide early this afternoon. * TIDE INFO...At 1020 am the tide was running around 1 foot above predicted values. High tide at Ocean Shores is about 115 PM PST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Beach runup by waves will be extensive, and severe beach erosion is expected. Low-lying areas near shorelines will likely experience saltwater flooding. Some jetties and levees will be overtopped by the bigger waves and may be damaged. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water, and take appropriate action to protect life and property. && $$
