Man killed changing tire identified, troopers search for semi driver

KIRKLAND, Wash. — A driver changing a tire along southbound I-405 was killed in a hit-and-run late Tuesday night.

The victim's car was pulled over on the right shoulder with a flat tire in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland near Northeast 132nd Street.

The 37-year-old man was hit and killed by another vehicle shortly after 11 p.m. and the driver fled, the Washington State Patrol said.

The man was later identified as Chester Mena.

At least two lanes were blocked for several hours while police investigated. The scene has since cleared.

Police have not released any information about a possible suspect or related vehicle.
