RENTON, Wash. — The Seahawks kicked off their practice on Wednesday without three of their key players.

Seahawks running back Chris Carson, safety Bradley McDougald and right guard D.J. Fluker all sat out with injuries.

McDougald, who has become the vocal leader of the Seahawks secondary, is dealing with a sore knee.

Fluker is nursing a calf injury and Carson is trying to get over a hip injury, which kept him out of the Arizona game earlier this season.

"The soft tissue thing is kind of hanging with him a little bit. This hip thing is still kind of there, and we've got to wait and see how it comes out at the end of the week,” Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said.

If Carson can't go, the 12s might see Seahawks first-round draft pick Rashaad Penny get more carries.
C.J. Prosise could also be active for the game in Los Angeles against the division-leading Rams on Sunday.

"C.J. is ready to go, he is dying to play,” said Carroll. “He's frustrated by not being able to play. He's healthy and he's talented, it's just a matter of getting the slots right so we can get him on the field on game day."

KIRO 7 asked Carroll what he wants to see out of the Seahawks secondary in this NFC West showdown at the Coliseum.

"We better get there,” said Carroll. “You know, this group (of wide receivers in Los Angeles we’re playing) is fantastic. All three (of those) guys have almost 40 catches. (Cooper) Kupp has 37 catches or whatever, but that's only because he hasn't been playing."

"You know, I think we're ready to kind of make that jump, and it's a jump that we need to make,” Bobby Wagner, a Seahawks linebacker, said.

"In the grand scheme of things, we're still a young team,” said Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin. “I do think that this upcoming game gives us an opportunity to demonstrate our growth through the first half of the season."
