Seattle Kraken trade Johansson for Capitals’ Sprong plus draft picks

SEATTLE — The Seattle Kraken announced Monday they have acquired forward Daniel Sprong from the Washington Capitals, a 2022 fourth-round draft pick and a 2023 sixth-round draft pick for forward Marcus Johansson.

The trade gives Seattle Kraken 25 picks in the next two drafts.

Sprong has totaled 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 47 games played for the Capitals this season.

Sprong is a native from Amsterdam, Netherlands, and was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft.

According to NHL.com, Sprong and his family moved to Canada in 2005 to help with his hockey career.

Sprong is 6 feet tall and weighs 193 pounds.

Johansson totaled 23 points (six goals, 17 assists) in 51 games with the Seattle Kraken this season.

He signed as a free agent on Aug. 6, 2021.
