Sounders and Delta build new pitch at Seahurst Elementary

BURIEN, Wash. — The Seattle Sounders FC and Delta Air Lines announced Tuesday the construction of a new mini pitch and play area at Seahurst Elementary in Burien.

The Seahurst mini pitch is the seventh field built by the Sounders’ RAVE Foundation throughout the region and the third in their partnership with Delta.

Seahurst Elementary serves approximately 400 low-income students from diverse backgrounds.

The mini pitches are always open and available to the community.

The new space will also feature a garden green space, where the rain runoff from the pitch is fed directly into the garden.

The mini pitch is scheduled to open in June, with an official opening event to be scheduled at a future date.

The project was announced during a virtual all-school assembly, where all students were gifted a new soccer ball of their own to use on the new field.

To date, Delta has donated over 30,000 balls throughout the region.
