Woman's body found on sidewalk below open fourth-floor window

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Lynnwood police were called to an Extended Stay America Hotel in the 3000 block of 196th Street SW on Thursday morning to investigate a suspicious death.

Lynnwood Police Public Information Officer Shannon Sessions said that a jogger found the body of a 43-year-old woman on the sidewalk outside the hotel shortly before 6 a.m. Sessions said the body showed significant signs of trauma.

Sessions said a 911 caller reported that the woman had been shot, but first responders found no evidence consistent with that report. It appeared that the woman had come out of a fourth-floor window, which was still open when police arrived.

The woman was a registered guest in the room. Police were waiting for a search warrant to examine it. They did not say if anyone else was registered in the room, but when they checked it, it was empty.

It is not known how or why the woman ended up on the pavement. Sessions said that it was possible the woman was pushed, and it was also possible that she jumped.

Sessions said the woman was from Brier, but did not reveal her name.
