Woman arrested after protesters damage East Precinct garage door

SEATTLE — A 34-year-old woman was arrested Thursday night after police say a protesters damaged an entry way to the East Precinct.

Before midnight, a group of protesters marched from Cal Anderson Park to the East Precinct.

Police said outside the precinct, several people from the group pushed a large dumpster down a ramp, slamming the dumpster into a garage door, used by emergency vehicles that respond to 911 calls.

This caused damaged and disabled the door to the garage.

Officers caught one of the suspects and she was booked into the King County Jail for malicious mischief.

Police said the department is working to assess the cost of repairing the damage.
