UPS truck fire Tuesday morning in Thurston County

A UPS truck caught fire early Tuesday on Interstate 5 in Thurston County, and drivers faced early morning backups as a result.

The fire on SB I-5 happened near the Scatter Creek Rest Area near milepost 92. The right lane was initially blocked, and that grew to two lanes.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was initially said to have started because of the brakes. It was not immediately clear how many packages were damaged.

The closure was down to one lane by 4:45 a.m. and a tow truck was at the scene.
