Woman survives after car crashes into canal in South Florida

BOCA RATON, Fla. — A woman survived after her car crashed into a canal in South Florida.

A witness nearby sprang into action and helped the woman safely escape the vehicle as it became submerged, video posted on social media shows.

Rescuers responded around 11:30 a.m. to find the vehicle fully submerged and the driver along the canal bank with bystanders, WPEC reported. No one else was in the vehicle.

It is the second time in less than 24 hours that a driver has ended up in the water in South Florida.

A woman died Saturday night after her car jumped a curb and careened into the Intracoastal Waterway in Boynton Beach, WPEC reported.
