Wisconsin man sports half-beard in driver’s license photo

MILWAUKEE — A Wisconsin man must be a fan of modernist artist Man Ray or even Adriano Alarcon. Or he believes half a beard is better than none.

Peter Jacob Woods, 34, an experimental music producer from Milwaukee, had his driver’s license identification picture taken with him sporting just half of a beard and mustache, WDJT reported.

Woods said he renewed his license at a Division of Motor Vehicles office in Milwaukee last week, the television station reported.

“This was an opportunity for me to make a joke,” Woods told WDEZ. “If I’m going to look at my license for the next eight years, I might as well get a laugh out of it.”

According to his LinkedIn page, Woods owns a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He calls himself a “lifelong educator, artist, and scholar with a focus on the intersection between education, DIY (do-it-yourself) music communities, experimental arts and cultural politics.”

As for the license ID, Woods said he thought of the idea years ago, WDJT reported. He was originally going to take the photo eight years ago, but there was a glitch with his information so he had to keep the previous photo, the television station reported.

He got the chance to change it this time.
