Washington man arrested for carjacking 16-year-old within half hour of jail release

SPOKANE, Wash. — A Washington man enjoyed 20 whole minutes of freedom Saturday before police said he stole a teenager’s car, landing him right back in jail by 1 a.m. Sunday.

According to the Spokane Police Department, Marcus Goodman, 31, was released from jail on an unspecified felony charge at 10:08 p.m. Saturday night, and officers responded to a carjacking call at 10:28 p.m. in the Browne’s Addition neighborhood, KXLY reported.

The 16-year-old victim told officers that she was approached by a man who demanded her car and implied he had a gun. Officers found the girl’s car at 1 a.m. and arrested Goodman for second-degree robbery, ABC News reported.

“The investigation showed (that) in 20 minutes Goodman had traveled the roughly 1.5 miles from jail to the incident location in Browne’s Addition and robbed the juvenile victim,” the Spokane Police Department stated in a news release.
