Walmart beef: Fight in store leads to Ohio woman’s assault with ‘log of prepackaged meat’

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — Things got salty in the potato chip aisle of an Ohio Walmart Tuesday after a woman caught in a feud with a former neighbor was assaulted with a 10-pound log of ground beef, police allege.

South Euclid police officials said officers were summoned to the store around 4:18 p.m. on a call of a disturbance between two women. They learned that the two women used to be neighbors in a University Heights duplex.

A prior incident at the duplex led one woman to obtain a restraining order against the other. Both happened to be shopping at Walmart with their young children Tuesday afternoon.

“When the two made eye contact with one another, the protected party was confronted by the other woman, who threatened to ‘beat her (expletive)’ as well as (that of) her 7-year-old daughter,” according to a statement from police.

The belligerent woman then pulled down the mask covering her face and spit at the alleged victim.

“When she missed, she entered the other woman’s shopping cart and struck her in the face with a 10-pound log of prepackaged meat,” authorities said.

The alleged assailant, whose name was not released, was arrested and charged with assault and violation of the other woman’s protective order. Her 5-year-old was turned over to another family member as she was taken into custody.

“A criminal history check revealed a history of violent behavior and multiple warrants out for her arrest,” police officials said. “It is unknown as to what initially led to the beef between the two women.”
