JACKSON, Miss. — A toddler was critically injured when gunfire erupted on a Mississippi street Tuesday, authorities said.
According to the Clarion Ledger and WAPT, the incident occurred shortly after noon on Marwood Drive in Jackson. Jackson police tweeted that a 2-year-old “was wounded while playing outside after multiple shots were fired from a dark-colored SUV.” The vehicle had a Florida license plate, police added.

The toddler was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition, the news outlets reported.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with the case. No further information was immediately available.
