JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities arrested a school bus driver Thursday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence after she crashed a bus while going around a curve on Interstate 295, WJAX-TV reported.
The incident happened just before 6 a.m., according to the news station. No students were on board the bus at the time of the crash, WJAX reported, citing the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers told the news station that the driver, identified as a 58-year-old Jacksonville woman, was attempting to exit onto Interstate 10 East when she hit an interstate sign and drove down an embankment near the exit ramp.
A photo shared by WOKV showed the bus stopped in the middle of trees off the roadway with its rear emergency door open.
The driver, whose name was not released, and the bus monitor who was onboard at the time of the crash were not injured, WJAX reported. The bus driver was also charged with other unspecified crash-related charges, according to the news station.
