“Saturday Night Live” returns this weekend but with a twist.
In what’s being called a surprise return from a coronavirus-induced hiatus, the show will air content that is produced remotely, according to NBC. It will also include the long-time favorite “Weekend Update” news segment.
The show will abide by social distancing rules, NBC said. “SNL” has been on hiatus since mid-March.
“Saturday Night Live” suffered a blow this week with the death of veteran producer and music supervisor Hal Willner. He had not been diagnosed with COVID-19, but his symptoms were consistent with those caused by the coronavirus.
Willner had selected music for skits on “Saturday Night Live” since 1980.
