Recall alert: Farm, USDA recall 6,890 pounds of chicken salad

A Massachusetts farm is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to recall almost 7,000 pounds of chicken salad.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Willow Tree Poultry Farm has recalled 6,890 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken salad products due to misbranding. The chicken salad could contain walnuts which are a known allergen. The walnuts were not listed on the label.

The issue was found when a customer said they found walnuts and cranberries in a container of classic chicken salad.

The product at the center of the recall is the 15-oz. clear plastic container of the Willow Tree Premium White Meat Chicken Salad Classic. It has a sell-by date of 9/30/20 and a time stamp of 13:00 through 17:00 on the cellophane lid.

It has an establishment number of EST. P-8827 in the mark of inspection.

The chicken salad was shipped to stores in Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

If you have the recalled chicken salad, you’re being directed to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
