The shooting happened at 14th Street and Riggs Street NW just north of Logan Circle, WJLA reported.

Officials with the Metro Police Department said both victims were conscious and breathing. Metro Police Department Chief Robert C. Contee III said at a news conference that the men’s injuries were “non-life-threatening.”

D.C. Councilmember Brooke Pinto said that” anywhere between 20 to 30 shots were heard,” WJLA reported.

A CNN reporter posted a video on Twitter that appeared to show people fleeing from Le Diplomate restaurant near the shooting. Loud noises resembling gunshots could be heard in the video.

Contee said police responded “within five seconds” to the scene, where they found the two gunshot victims.

“It appears at this time that one at least one of these individuals was the target of the shooting,” Contee told reporters. “The other individual is possibly an innocent bystander.”

Police said they are looking for a man wearing a lime green-yellow hooded sweater, WJLA reported. Police said the man fled in a black Honda Civic with District of Columbia license plates, according to the television station.

“I think this kind of speaks to the brazenness of some of the criminals in this community,” Contee said at the news conference. “We are just seeing a proliferation of firearms in our community.”
